Katrina's Aftermath

As I see more and more images of Katrina's aftermath, I'm stunned by the devastation. It's difficult to imagine the long-term impacts in the entire region to individuals, families, communities, cities, businesses, and governments.

These same images also give evidence of mankind's very best and most noble...selflessness, service, sacrifice. Unfortunately, they also show the very worst and most despicable...vicious crimes including murder, rape, and unchecked looting.

Katrina's Aftermath

In bootcamp, it is the job of the drill instructors to break everyone in the company down to the lowest level he possibly can. He yells and screams at them. He makes them do pushups till they can do no more, then he makes them find that last bit of energy to do more pushups. It matters not whether you were homless or the son of a senator, you are all broken down the same. Then when everyone is equal, the drill instructor builds eveyone up together, learning to work as a team. I see the Hurricane as God's bootcamp. He broke everyone down to the lowest level whether poor or rich. It is up to us, and the recruits from Mississippi to Texas, to work together to build up a strong Christian army. I truely believe God gave us this storm damage to teach us to work together. Sure there will be those who take advantage, but surely they will get their reward in full. I recently came back from that area and there is still much work to be done. Please don't forget those people and let's help God build them up to a great Christian Army.
